Serendipity in Action
Every once in a while, something happens to restore your faith in humanity.
In June, we had the delight of meeting with the Radius Logistics leadership team, Roger Harrison (President and General Manager) and Deanie Hiles (Vice President).
Radius Logistics is a supply chain and logistics firm based in Surrey, BC. They came to our offices in Whistler to meet Chris, our Co-Executive Director, and to drop off a donation of $1,500.
The story of how Roger and Deanie came to be posing for photos in our office is a first for us. In May, we published a blog post about long-time partners Covenant House Vancouver. Covenant House shared our post on their social media, along with a photo of them enjoying one of our Adventure Sessions. Radius Logistics saw that post and selected Zero Ceiling to receive the proceeds from their Staff Donation Fund. Talk about six degrees of separation!
A Company With a Heart
Social responsibility and community support are important causes for the company, as well as for Roger and Deanie personally. And, it seems, for the rest of their staff as well.
“At Radius, we believe that our hard work and success should reflect back on the communities that we operate in. Which is why we go out of our way to reduce our impact on the environment as well as contribute back to worthy charities in a variety of ways.”
With this donation, we will be able to cover individual counselling sessions for our Work 2 Live crew members for a year. Work 2 Live is a holistic program for 19-24 year-olds experiencing or at risk of homelessness. For over twelve months, they live, work, and play in Whistler. The program provides them with all of the wrap-around supports they need to transition into independent adulthood. Mental health and trauma support are critical pieces of that transition. The counselling sessions are provided by licensed professionals in our local area.
Thank you Radius Logistics
Thank you to the employees at Radius Logistics, who support Covenant House, and who suggested Zero Ceiling as a worthy recipient of your donations. We are well and truly humbled. You can read about their choice to select us for their donation on their blog.
Thank you to Covenant House for sharing our post. We’ve said it before, but we’re blessed to have friends like you.
And thank you to Roger and Deanie, who infused their giving spirit into the company. Your approach to community wellness and social responsibility is inspiring to see, and we wish you all the best.
