Ever wondered what it would be like to save the world from a pandemic? Maybe you fancy building a continent-spanning rail network?! Or perhaps you simply want to take over the world! Well luckily for you, you can attempt all of this and much more this Friday 29th September. Even better, there’s almost no risk of you actually achieving world domination!

Try your hand at over 200 different board games at the 24-hour board game marathon, on 29th September at Brookswood Baptist Church, Langley. With fantastic prizes on offer, veteran gamers to teach you the rules, and even a place to rest your head, it promises to be a fantastic evening.

Lora-Lynne Frewing, the driving force behind the event, has been working hard to plan exciting challenges, competitive tournaments and fantastic food to keep you all going. Having run the marathon for the first time last year, she’s pushed to make this year even bigger and better. She’s looking forward to welcoming even more players, more sponsors and more prizes. Her most important advice: “Don’t worry if you’ve never played many board games before – we’ve got everything from popular party games to games I bet you never knew existed. There will be plenty of people there to teach you the rules, so come along and try something new.”

Here at Zero Ceiling, we’re delighted that for the second year in a row, Lora-Lynne has decided to donate the proceeds to us. We’re also grateful to the many local sponsors who have donated prizes, food and games to the event: Science and Nature Co., Craving for a Game, Pastimes, Toy Traders, Gray Haven, Pizzeria Ludica, Old Spaghetti Factory, Starbucks, Cobs and The Real Canadian Superstore. Fundraisers like this are crucial to help us run our programmes, and we’re always astounded by the generosity of the people and organisations around us.

Intrigued? To find out more about the event and to sign up, visit the 24-hour Board Game Marathon facebook page. The event starts at 7pm on Friday 29th September and ends at 7pm on Saturday 30th in Langley. Entrance fee is $30, which is donated to Zero Ceiling. Come along for an hour, or see if you can make it through the night!
